Goal: To understand the elements and processes used in critiquing and appraising floral designs.
Description: The capability to properly critique floral arrangements plays an important role in a floral designer’s ability to create and discuss arrangements. In this presentation, students will discuss the factors involved in critiquing floral designs. The importance of balance, proportion, foliage, mechanics and focal point are thoroughly discussed and applied as he critiques symmetrical triangle, asymmetrical triangle, round and vegetative designs.
Objectives:
1. To understand the elements used in critiquing and appraising floral designs.
2. To explore the formal qualities found in floral designs.
3. To examine the process of determining intents and meanings of floral designs.
Goal: To discover the basic concepts of corsage and boutonniere creation.
Description: This presentation is a beginner’s guide to creating corsages and boutonnieres. From the materials needed to create these designs to intricate multi-bloom corsages, this presentation covers it all. Simple single bloom corsages and boutonnieres are discussed step-by-step along with in-depth discussions of the materials and mechanics of each design. Collaborator: Kelly Marble, AIFD, AAF

1. To identify tools and supplies needed to plan the creation of a corsage or boutonniere.
2. To plan and construct various types of corsages and boutonnieres.
3. To determine the appropriate flowers and foliage for various occasions.
4. To evaluate artistic decisions in boutonniere and corsage creation.
