To understand the stem treatments, tools and preservatives used in post harvest care of cut flowers. Students will understand the overall importance of caring for cut flowers after harvest.

Description: Demonstrating the proper techniques used in floral design is very important when creating an arrangement. This presentation takes a closer look at the proper floral design techniques. How are flowers processed and cared for before they get to the customer? Go behind the scenes at a wholesale floral company and a retail flower shop for an in-depth look at the care of flowers after they have been harvested. This presentation examines the process from the time the flowers are processed at the wholesale florist until they are placed in the cooler at the retail florist. The use of preservatives and disease prevention are also discussed.
